Before I start...

I have to get something off my chest. I have been thinking about starting a food blog for about a year now. I'm not really sure why I haven't until now. I spend much of my days thinking, nay, dreaming about food. I regret not starting this sooner. At the very least I should have started this at the beginning of this past summer. You see, I was a summer associate. The summer associate is the spoiled brat of the legal world - a law student between her second and third years of school with a cushy summer job at a Big Law firm. In an effort to convnice us to sign our lives away to the Man, these firms treat their summer associates like royalty - we are regularly taken out to three hour lunches at fantastically exciting restaurants and wined and dined until we're fattened and ready to be eaten by billable hours. My summer jaunt in New York provided me with the chance to dine at Le Bernardin and drink bellinis at Daniel and not worry about the accompanying price tag. I just wish that I had begun this endeavor before, so that I could have documented these experiences and shared my foray into fine dining with you all. But now you're stuck with me, just a third year law student in Chicago with a hungry belly and a wandering mind - not to mention (most importantly) a lot of time and an appetite for the law that has been more than sated by my first two years of law school. As I dive deeper into my love for all things edible, I hope that you will come along, and join me on this journey. It will not always be neat - I can promise you with near certainty that it will actually prove to be quite messy, but it will hopefully be fun.
